Conference Calls


If any conference participant uses a cell phone, the quality of the conference call for some/all participants may be affected.

3–6 Participants

Self Setup, Using a Digital Phone

  1. Call a conference participant.
  2. Press the Conference button, wait for dial tone, dial your next party.
  3. Once the new party is on the line, press conference to bring your parties together.
  4. Repeat steps 2 and 3 to add additional participants, up to a maximum of 6.
  5. If you get a busy signal/no answer when dialing a party, press the flickering green button to return to your conference.

Set Up by the Campus Operator

At least two hours before the desired call time (where possible),
  1. Fax a list of participants and numbers, and the requested call time, to the campus operator (795-1547).
  2. At the requested time, the campus operator will contact you.
  3. The operator will then add participants one at a time until all are connected.
  4. If a call is dropped during the conference, dial 0 (campus operator) to request a reconnect.

Charges

  1. You pay for each leg of the conference call that is outside the local calling area (requires you to dial an authorization code).
  2. Each dialed number will show up separately on your monthly long-distance report.
  3. Current rates are 6.0 cents/minute for all calls within the U.S.

AT&T Toll-free Dial-In (7–200 Participants)

At least two hours before the desired call time (where possible),
  1. Dial the AT&T Conference Operator (9-1-800-526-2655).
  2. Request a conference reservation.
  3. Provide the operator with the following information:
    • Date, time, and duration of the call
    • Number of participants
    • Specify:
      • Toll-free dial-in (you pay for all participants; International callers cannot be included), or
      • Caller-paid dial-in (each participant pays for own usage).
You will receive a toll-free number, a conference ID, and a PIN.
  1. Distribute the toll-free number and conference ID to your conference participants.
  2. At the time of the conference, dial the toll-free number and input the conference ID.
  3. Input the PIN when officially prompted to begin your conference.
AT&T Operator assistance is available during the call:
  1. Dial #0 for the menu and 0 to be connected to an operator.
  2. Additional charges are incurred when an AT&T operator assists during a call.

    Notes:
    a.  Each time you request a toll-free dial-in conference you will receive a different conference ID and PIN.

Charges

  1. $0.12/minute is charged for each leg of the call.
  2. Inform Telecommunications of the date and time of the conference call.
  3. Invoices are received and paid monthly by this office.
  4. You will be contacted for a PTA.

AT&T Conference Kit (7–50 Participants)

For a consistent teleconference ID and PIN when calls will have more than six (6) participants:
  1. Contact Vicky Lopez at x4742 to request additional information.
  2. You will be billed $0.12/minute for each participant.
  3. The total amount for the call will be charged to your PTA via WIC.
