Sending and Receiving Mail Using a
Mobile Device (Treo, Blackberry, etc.)

Most mobile devices will require the following configuration information for encrypted email access:

1. Your email address
   • Please type your Caltech email address (Example: joe@caltech.edu)
2. Your username and password
   • Please type your IMSS (access.caltech) username and password
3. Incoming Server Address:
   • For IMAP = imap-server.its.caltech.edu
   • For POP = pop-server.its.caltech.edu
4. Outgoing Server Address:
   • smtp-server.its.caltech.edu
5. Your email account requires SSL authentication. Please select the check boxes for SSL encryption on both the Incoming and Outgoing servers.
   • If you are using POP for incoming server, the port should be 995
   • If you are using IMAP for incoming server, the port should be 993
   • For Outgoing server, the port should be 465 for most carriers.  For some carriers port 25 will work better. If you have any problems sending mail, please try both port settings.
6. Please also make sure that the setting for "Outgoing mail requires authentication" is also selected
