Directory Lookup Configuration for Thunderbird
Thunderbird
1. Within Thunderbird (2.x), click the “Tools” menu, then “Account Settings…”.
2. In the left column, select “Composition & Addressing”. On the right in the “Addressing” section, click the “Edit Directories…” button.

3. On the “LDAP Directory Servers” window, click “Add”.

4. The “Directory Server Properties” should be showing. Fill out the following fields:
Name: your preference
Hostname: directory.caltech.edu
Base DN: ou=people,ou=imss,o=caltech,c=us
Port number should already show 389.

5. Click “OK” to close the “LDAP Directory Servers” window.
6. Back on the “Account Settings” window in the “Addressing” section, make sure that “Use a different LDAP server:” is checked. Then click the arrow in the dropdown box and choose the name you specified in step 4. Then click “OK” to close the window.
