Telephone Request for Students

All student rooms have a private phone hookup. The phone jacks may be active. To use the line in your room, purchase an analog phone set and plug it into the telephone jack. If you are unable to complete calls, a telephone number will be assigned upon request, once you have a permanent room assignment. When rotation is complete, submit your phone request at http://help.caltech.edu and select request type IMSS-->Phones-->Student Phone. Complete the form and an extension will be assigned to your room. Analog phones may be purchased from Target and other local merchants.

For all student houses, to learn your extension, dial “0” between 7 a.m. and 6 p.m. and ask the switchboard operator to tell you the number you are calling from. There is no charge for local phone service. If you choose not to get your own telephone line, hallway phones are available for use. Caltech‘s area code and prefix are 626-395.

If you already have an extension and need it moved to a new room, submit your request at http://help.caltech.edu and select request type IMSS-->Phones-->Student Phone. Complete the form and your phone number will be moved to your new location.
