Update SolidWorks License Server Info after August 28

On August 28, during IMSS' regularly scheduled maintenance, the SolidWorks license server will migrate to a new server in order to upgrade to the latest version 2025. All SolidWorks installations must then update the license server information in the SolidNetWork License Manager.

After August 28th, do the following:

  1. Launch the SolidNetwork License Manager, located in Programs > SolidWorks > SolidWorks Tools.
  2. Click on the Server List tab at the top.
  3. Click Add to enter the new license server information. The new license server name can be obtained by ordering a free license of SolidWorks from the software.caltech.edu webstore after August 28th.
  4. Remove the old license server information.
  5. Launch SolidWorks to confirm the update.
  6. Reminder: SolidWorks requires a Caltech network connection; use VPN if needed.
