A critical security vulnerability has been identified in Zoom that affects Zoom clients on Windows, macOS, and Linux. Zoom has released security updates to address this issue, and all users should ensure that they are running a supported updated version of the Zoom Workplace client.
Action Required
Please update your Zoom client as soon as possible.
Users should be running one of the following patched versions (or newer):
- Zoom Workplace 7.1.5 or later (recommended)
Versions prior to these releases may be vulnerable to a critical security issue that could allow a remote attacker to compromise a device during a Zoom meeting.
Managed Caltech Computers
No action is required for IMSS-managed Windows or macOS. These systems have already been updated with the required Zoom security patches through centralized management.
Personally Managed Devices
Faculty, staff, and students using personally managed computers should launch Zoom and install the latest available update immediately.
To check your Zoom version:
- Open Zoom Workplace.
- Click your profile picture.
- Select Check for Updates.
- Install the latest version if prompted.
