There are questions particularly around security, privacy, and ethical considerations. This field continues to evolve rapidly and as such we need to continue to evaluate its benefits and risks. Caltech Enterprise or Educational Licensing Status

ChatGPT Business (Recommended for Caltech Work) ChatGPT Business is the only version appropriate for Caltech‑related use because:OpenAI does not use Business inputs or outputs for model training by default.

The business license provides enhanced privacy protections, aligning with GDPR, CCPA, and other regulatory requirements.

SSO and MFA

Business and Enterprise workspaces support SSO and MFA for secure access.

Action Required Before purchasing or enabling ChatGPT Business, work with IMSS to configure:

• SSO
• MFA
• Domain verification and security controls

ChatGPT Pro (Not Approved for Official Caltech Use)

ChatGPT Pro is intended for individual users and is not recommended for any official Caltech business because:

• SSO is not supported. (Available only in Business/Enterprise/Edu)
• Data is used for model training by default unless manually disabled.
• Although MFA is supported, it is user‑managed rather than centrally governed.
• If someone still chooses to use ChatGPT Pro, they must disable model training:Path:Profile → Settings → Data Controls → "Improve the model for everyone" → Toggle OFF
