IMSS and the Institute continue to evaluate the field of artificial intelligence (AI) and its use within higher education. There are questions particularly around security, privacy, and ethical considerations. This field continues to evolve rapidly and as such we need to continue to evaluate its benefits and risks. See below for a list of available AI tools.

Do not use Generative AI (GenAI) tools as a system of record.

GenAI platforms are not approved for long-term storage, official records management, or institutional data retention. Users must ensure that all records requiring retention are stored in approved Caltech systems in accordance with established policies and regulatory requirements.

Generative AI tools can be ordered using a PTA through the Tech Partner Portal located in access.caltech in the Self Service section.
