Duo is currently required for all users of Caltech email, VPN, and a handful of other systems and services. IMSS is continually increasing coverage with the goal of enforcing MFA for all important campus applications.

How often do I have to use Duo?

In most situations, you may optionally have Duo remember your authentication for 1 day. When authenticating, Duo will prompt you with "Is this your device?". If you answer with "Yes", Duo will remember your authentication and will not require it again for 24 hours. This feature is tied to your web browser on a single device. You will be prompted by Duo again if you use a different device, or a different web browser. This feature does not apply to Windows logins, and may be restricted for certain high security applications or risky logins.
