An email alias is simply a forwarding email address. When your Caltech account is created you will receive an username, for example jjjs. Your default email will then be firstname.lastname@example.org.
You may request an alias to accommodate for a more friendly email, such as email@example.com. Once the alias is created you will be able to receive email sent to either firstname.lastname@example.org or email@example.com. Note that the requirement for an alias is at least 3 characters.
- To request an @caltech.edu alias (3 character minimum) or change an existing one, submit a request via Caltech Help (Request Type: IMSS > Email & Calendar > Alias Request Form).
- Update My Personal Information with Human Resources and Directory Services via access.caltech. This will update the Online Personnel Directory with your new email address.
